The original recording

The official police response

When presented with this recording, Dyfed-Powys Police stated:

"There is no proof that the recording is genuine and could have been taken from the TV or outside in the street."

However, proof is not needed to investigate. Proof is needed to prosecute.

The police did not interview the two women who made the recording.

They did not conduct any forensic audio analysis.

They did not attempt to verify the source.

The police officer does not mention the first three words in the recording.

The "Handmaid's Tale" claim

A comment was posted on social media claiming the recording was taken from the movie The Handmaid's Tale.

I conducted a direct comparison between our recording and the alleged scene from the series.

The Handmaid's Tale scene

Contains only the phrase "the baby died" – the opening words "why Gareth why" are absent.

Our recording

Contains the full phrase: "Why Gareth (or maybe Gary) why, the babies die"

Side‑by‑side comparison

The first three words "Why Gareth why" are completely missing from The Handmaid's Tale scene – proving the social media claim was false.

Key findings

The recording could not have been taken from The Handmaid's Tale because:

  • The movie does not contain the name "Gareth" or "Gary" in that scene
  • The phrase "why Gareth why" appears only in our recording
  • The police did not verify this claim before dismissing the evidence
  • The two women who made the recording were never interviewed

Witness testimony

Two women made this recording in the basement of 20 College Street.

The police did not speak to either of them.

Both shared their experience in our documentary "The Ammanford Untouchables".

The full context of this recording, including the date, time, and conditions under which it was made, is preserved in the evidence archive.

The name "Gareth" has been heard in other recordings

Another recording containing the name Gareth:

For the avoidance of any doubt:

One of the co‑owners of the shop premises is Gareth Edwards, the other co‑owner is Jane John. I have no evidence that suggests that either of them are in any way involved in whatever caused the disturbing noises.

I have always maintained that the disturbing noises appeared to be coming from underneath the basement area, somewhere beneath the shop, not in the basement of the shop itself.

I do consider their actions odd though

Neither has shown any concern for the noises recorded.

When I invited them to give their point of view, they chose not to.

The oddest thing though is this: they publicly stated that the reason I have mentioned them in my investigation is because I have a vendetta against them.

This is not true and I have proven it untrue in a different section.
